The motto 'From the sensor to the cloud' is used to promote the Internet of Things. Many available IoT solutions bring collected data into the cloud, but leave users alone with their data. Although IoT starts with the sensor, it doesn't end with the cloud, but with people. Only with the action of people does data acquisition become a real IoT solution. A practical example shows the role of Industrial Apps in a flexible IoT system, in which the users retains sovereignty over their data.
