The Nuremberg SPS fair always takes place traditionally at the end of November and offers the many trade visitors a good insight into the latest developments in the field of automation technology.

The focus this year on the booth of Elco Industrie Automation GmbH was clearly on the company's own vision "Elco 360 °", the all-round service package of the Elco Group. This includes innovative automation technology, products and solutions for the industrial Internet and the connection and networking of things (or also technically called "things"). Elco's goal of acting as a holistic solution provider came one step closer!

Many new products make their debut at the fair

In 2019, Elco continued its innovation sprint and made many efforts in the research and development of photoelectric sensors and laser distance sensors. The latest high-precision sensor from Elco, the OSM40 series, has a detection range from 50 mm to 400 mm in two different versions. The series has an accuracy of up to 10 μm, which is unique on the market! Our new OSM-70 series has also made a great leap in innovation in the field of photoelectric sensors with many new technical refinements and a range of up to 150 m.

Another big highlight at the SPS fair was our new IO-Link Compact67 field distributors. These support complete IO-Link master / slave architectures and allow easy integration of I / O level. Our goal is to officially launch this series into the distribution channel in the course of 2020.

Additionally, there were many individual product launches such as our absolute multi-turn encoders, absolute single-turn BiSS C protocol encoders, RFID readers, highly flexible Ethernet connectors for universal use in the control cabinet and in the drag chain , High-temperature sensors and inductive and capacitive sensors for measuring a liquid medium in pipelines.

Edge Layer, Platform Layer and Application Layer from one source

Elco's software department demonstrated a wide range of industrial cloud solutions from the edge layer via the platform layer right up to the application layer to bring the data from the sensor to the human being. As an effective demonstration and basis for discussion, we used an active customer project of an automobile manufacturer this year. The networking of various data sources was shown, such as a classic S7 controller or more powerful platforms with OPC-UA interface. This data was centrally processed in the company's own server instance and visualized for the customer in a native app. This means data and alarms can be easily read out and the technician can be informed in time.

IoT Hardware, the counterpart to our software

True to the motto "Everything from a single source", we offer suitable hardware directly tailored to our software. This makes digitization as easy as possible for the customer and facilitates the integration of all systems. We call this IoTHub-ready! With our hardware, controls, edge computers, sensors and actuators can be integrated via radio, in a look and feel that is common in industry.
